Our Story

At House of Hiatus we hope to provide you with the unique feeling of being on vacation every day. We want to create space for everyone to take a break from the mundane and connect to conscious living.

The Inspiration

With a passion for quality goods, travel and purposeful design we made the first House of Hiatus robe as an alternative to the ol’ terry cloth robe and have since created a complete travel uniform line that provides you with an elevated path to relaxation and serenity.

Genderless Silhouettes for EveryBODY

We believe in feeling comfortable and chic no matter your size or gender. Our simple silhouettes, natural fabrics and complementary colors are chosen to enhance the spaces we live in and how we live in them. All of our robes and travel accessories come in two simplified sizes in an effort to cater to all body types.

Ethically Made
in Los Angeles, California

All of our products are made of natural materials, sourced in the United States, and sewn by a family owned business, in Los Angeles. In addition to our signature cotton/linen line, we offer robes made of deadstock fabric also sourced in LA. Keeping everything local allows us to enact sustainable practices in the production and shipping of our line wherever possible. Hotel robes at the end of their life are donated to LA based Downtown Women’s Center where they are up-cycled for use in their housing and job training programs.

Hotel Partnerships

We create custom robes and travel accessories in collaboration with our residential and hospitality partners. We offer a fully customized design experience, providing guidance in the selection of styles, fabric and colors exclusive to the client’s location. Our robes are stocked in hotels and private residences in destinations from Palm Springs,California to Barcelona,Spain.

Sael Bartolucci
Founder & Designer

Raised in Florence, Italy by a Texan mother and an Italian father, Sael's childhood was defined by her family’s international travels. Sael moved to the US in her 20's where she studied textile design in Philadelphia, eventually working with global fashion brands and private clients. Later Sael received a master’s from Art Center in Los Angeles, where she now lives and collects unique souvenirs from around the world. This special collection led her to create House of Hiatus, the essential leisure and travel line, a balance between the exotic and the comfortable.
