How I Hiatus: Yucatan, Mexico

IMG_0019.jpg

Last week we spent time in a true dream landscape, the Mahekal Beach Resort, our favorite hideaway on the Riviera Maya. This is one of the oldest resorts in Playa del Carmen and the only one with traditional palapa palm leaf roofs!

Exquisitely decorated and with a cheerful staff, the Mahekal is exactly the kind of retreat space my family has treasured for a decade. All natural materials, bungalow style rooms with beautiful stucco walls, the resort is like none others in this area. With an attention to detail the wonderful landscape co-habits with the innate beauty that the ocean front property offers. We spent the week basking in the sun, walking on palm lined white beaches and swimming in the crystal clear Carribean Sea. Ow and of course eating the freshest fish and coconuts right on the beach!

So long Mexico, hope to return soon to your mystical and colorful land.
