How I Hiatus: Two Bunch Palms, California

It’s been a while since we’ve updated our Journal and that’s because, well… it’s been a less than travel friendly year, and while we got to escape the city a few times in 2020, it did not feel like we were truly on vacay… you know, considering the world wide pandemic and all.

That’s why, when my dear friend Erin’s birthday came up in June, I immediately felt like it was time for a long overdue ‘hiatus’!
So, we booked Two Bunch Palms — an oasis formed miraculously in the otherwise barren Coachella Valley. Apparently, in 1857, a settler discovered the site – a place to rest and find water, marked by two palm groves.

The healing waters, low in sulfur and rich in lithium, have been flowing for 600 years and see their first bit of daylight as they flow into the springs’ pools.

The grounds are lush but thoughtfully landscaped, providing shade with mostly drought tolerant flora. The newly renovated rooms and the hotel’s sleek, contemporary aesthetic provide the right amount of calm and comfort needed for their guests to sink into a state of relaxation.

We were lucky to go during the week while the resort was at 30% capacity so we had the numerous tubs and pools all to ourselves. A large cool pool was our hourly plunge to reset from the desert heat and the healing sun. Erin and I share a passion for the board game Sequence, so we played many games in between naps, walks on the property and swims. We did not make use of the enormous yoga dome, though we surely will when we go back.

Our favorite thing about our stay though was the food!!!!!!!!!! The restaurant at Two Bunch Palms is WONDERFUL. Erin and I both cook and love fresh seasonal food.

We could not believe how delicious our meals were, everything from the freshly whipped yogurt and homemade granola with sweet strawberries to the melon & prosciutto, and the cauliflower curry for dinner. WOW! We felt nourished and our senses were fully stimulated.

We of course brought our HoH robes and even though the temperature hit 110 F we basically lived in them through out our stay, eliciting the envy of other guests ;)

We highly recommend booking a few days in this wonderful desert wellness paradise, and don’t forget to bring your Hiatus robes!
